10th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest Kick-Off
~~Pasco County children learn & showcase how to “Be a Water Hero!”~~

Showcase your artistic talents and “Be a Water Hero!” All Pasco County students, kindergarten through 5th grade, are encouraged to participate in the 10th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest hosted by Pasco County Utilities (PCU) and Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA).
“Be a Water Hero!”
This year’s theme, “Be a Water Hero!” educates students about the water cycle, how a utility provides water, water use and positive actions for water stewardship. Students are asked to create an original poster showcasing how they are a “Water Hero.” Contest registration ends March 11, 2019, and the deadline to submit posters is April 1, 2019.
“We’re excited to support this creative, educational initiative again this year, and hope to have a record number of young advocates submit their artwork,” said PCU Customer Service Administrator Sandra Anderson.
The program is designed to meet Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning standards and is open to all elementary students across all types of schools. All participants receive a certificate, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be chosen from each grade level (K-5).
Prize packages for the contest are donated by sponsors including local businesses and educational attractions. “We appreciate the generosity of our sponsors and their continued commitment to promoting water preservation,” said FGUA Community Services Supervisor Matthew Rihs. Long running sponsors of the program include Chick-fil-A, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Florida Aquarium, Cold Stone Creamery, Big Cat Rescue and many more.
