Pasco County residents collected more than 17 tons of trash at 29 locations throughout the county during the 2019 Great American Cleanup March 2.  On foot, by boat, and by kayak – 675 volunteers descended upon locations including Anclote Gulf Park in Holiday, Lacoochee, Dade City, Port Richey and New Port Richey.

“This year’s added coastal focus targeting fishing line recovery was a critical step in protecting wildlife in environmentally-sensitive mangrove areas,” said Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator Kristen King.

2019 Great American Cleanup by the numbers:

• 17.78 tons (35,560 pounds) of trash and litter including, tires, car parts, and mattresses
• 29 locations throughout Pasco County
• 675 volunteers
• 2,466 volunteer hours logged during the cleanup

Keep Pasco Beautiful hosts the Great American Cleanup with corporate funding assistance.  The event’s success is a result of collaboration and assistance among Pasco County Solid Waste; Road and Bridge; Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources and Utilities Environmental Services.

The Great American Cleanup is one of two cleanup events held annually and is a collaboration between Keep Pasco Beautiful and Pasco County Government.  The mission of Keep Pasco Beautiful is to improve Pasco County by engaging the community in sustainable efforts to reduce litter, promote waste reduction and encourage beautification.
