2021 Fall Coastal Cleanup at Lacoochee

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on August 17, 2021

Come to The Christian Edge, 20946 US-301, Dade City, FL 33523, Saturday morning, September 18, 2021, to participate in the 2021 Fall Coastal Cleanup for northeast Pasco County.  Local residents have been doing this with the County for over 15 years.  The start time is 8 am and it continues to 11 am.  Participants may come for an hour or two, preferably early if the weather is still warm.  Stay and help as long as you are comfortable.

Bring your comfortable gloves and a hat for the sun and tree branches.  Long sleeves are not required but suggested.  Same with shorts and long pants.  Participants primarily clear the trash in tall weeds next to roads and the river.  You MUST wear real shoes, no flip/flops or open-toed sandals, to protect your feet from injury.

2021 Fall Coastal Cleanup, seven miles north of Dade City.

Participants will be provided with trash bags to fill and leave at the side of the road.  Keep Pasco Beautiful will pick them up.  Some gloves, a fluorescent vest, and “pick-up sticks” will be provided by the County.  Participants will be offered a t-shirt as a gift, and we hope to have all sizes.

There will be coffee at 8 am onward and water at all times.

The Christian Edge is a community center on the corner of CR 575/Trilby Rd. and US 301.  That is where Pasco County provides a dumpster.  We expect from 15 to 50 people to come during those three hours on Saturday morning.  You can bring extra people if you wish, registration is not required, but appreciated.

At the moment, masks are to be worn inside the building, but all of the work is done alongside the side roads of Trilby and Lacoochee.  You may go out by yourself, in small groups, or larger, and mask as you wish outside.

This is a pleasant, community-centered, opportunity to meet and help others in a rural, protected area of Pasco County with a century of history and very little development.
