Advanced Cancer Treatment Centers’ Radiation Oncologists New Location

Advanced Cancer Treatment Centers’ Radiation Oncologists Now Treating Patients at its New Location

The following providers are now seeing and treating all their patients at this location.

Clayton Alonso, MD, radiation oncology and Peter Zavitsanos, MD, radiation oncology. They join the following medical oncology providers who have already been treating patients at the new state-of-the-art treatment center.

  • Aaron Denson, MD, hematology oncology
  • D. Alan Kerr, II, MD, Ph.D., hematology oncology
  • Amy Morgan, APRN-C
  • Elizabeth Morgan, APRN, AOCN

All functions have now been transferred to one location.

In a promising development for cancer patients in the Tampa Bay area, Advanced Cancer Treatment Centers is now treating cancer patients using VitalBeam™ Radio Therapy System from Varian Medical Systems, bringing advanced image-guided tumor targeting capabilities close to home.

Drs. Alonso and Zavitsanos have been treating patients with the new technology on a limited basis at the new location for the last several weeks but are now treating patients exclusively with the VitalBeam system. Patients are treated for lung, brain, pancreas, liver, kidney, and spine cancer and other areas of the body where radiation is a medically accepted approach to treatment.

VitalBeam delivers powerful cancer treatments with pinpoint accuracy and precision built on Varian’s innovative TrueBeam™ platform, VitalBeam makes it possible to deliver image-guided treatments for the treatment of breast and prostate cancer, as well as challenging cases such as cancers of the Breast, Prostate, Lung, Head and Neck, Esophagus and Rectum.

About ACTC’s New Facility

The facility was built at a cost of approximately $7 million and includes equipment at a cost of $3.5 million. It will eventually employ a staff of 45 to 50 employees.

Cancer care services include but are not limited to medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and a wide range of other services.

The 21,000 square foot facility includes an infusion room, medical oncology, examination rooms, radiation oncology exam rooms, treatment vault, in-house full laboratory and the latest in radiation oncology treatment systems and the latest diagnostic equipment including CT scan and mobile PET.

ACTC’s caregivers and staff offer support services including financial counselors to address the unique psychological and emotional challenges of cancer patients and their families. The center also features a dedicated research department for clinical trials.
