The Citrus County Historical Society presented a $6,100 donation to the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners at their regular meeting on December 6, 2016 for repairs to the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum.

On August 24, 2016 the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum was vandalized. The community was shocked and saddened by the event and many individuals came forward to offer their support for the repairs needed.

County staff from Facilities and Maintenance quickly began what repairs could be done immediately, but there was some work that would involve more time and supplies. The total cost of the repair project would eventually amount to over $6,100.

A few days after the incident, the Pine Street Pub and Eatery, owners Kemper Willcott and Lou Ann Jacobs raised over $760 and the Inverness Business Leaders gave a $500 donation.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum has an agreement with the Board of County Commissioners that 30% of all funds raised by the concerts in the Old Courthouse Courtroom be spent on the maintenance and repairs of the Old Courthouse. Some of this year’s repair funds from concert ticket sales were combined with community donations to reach the total of $6100 to complete the repairs to the Historic Courthouse Heritage Museum.
