Alzheimer’s Walk to feature nostalgic cars
When participants arrive in Floral City on October 19th to walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Family Organization, they will find a colorful new feature at the event; a display of beautifully nostalgic automobiles and hot rods provided by members of The Geezers Hot Rod Non-Club of Citrus County. The exhibit will be on the walking route along the beautiful Avenue of Oaks in a shady, wooded area provided by the First Baptist Church of Floral City.

Floral City resident and Geezer member Joe Basset, who has helped organize the car show, says, “We are thrilled for this opportunity to contribute to Alzheimer’s awareness and fund-raising for the AFO.
The Geezers, which laughingly bills itself as a hot rod “non-club,” was founded in 1957 and currently has 38 members. About the casual nature of the group, member Harvey Jenkins explains, “We are dedicated to showing and talking about our cars, and looking for any excuse we can to get together for breakfast!!”
The fee to enter Citrus County Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s is $25, but teams entering ten or more Walkers at the same time will receive a five-dollar discount from each entry fee.
