Anonymous Donor Creates Brighter Road for MFCS Client

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, a Hernando County client of Mid Florida Community Services, Inc., now has a brighter road ahead of her.

Anonymous Donor Creates Brighter Road for MFCS Client

Earlier this month, an anonymous donor contacted Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. (MFCS), as she had a vehicle that she was no longer using and wished to donate it to another Hernando County resident that was experiencing a transportation barrier.  The recipient that was selected is a current MFCS client enrolled in the Community Services Family Self-Sufficiency Program while pursuing her nursing degree at Keiser University.  This client did not have a vehicle of her own and was often borrowing either her mother or her grandmother’s vehicle to attend classes.  At times, her mother or grandmother would drive her to school or to her internship and wait in the vehicle until she was finished and they could return home.

“Community Action is all about creating and providing a bridge to opportunity for our clients”, said MFCS CEO Michael Georgini.  “This donated vehicle does just that – it provides a bridge to opportunity for our client and her family.  Knowing that we could help a client continue her studies and progress into her career all by eliminating a transportation barrier means the world.  MFCS, using unrestricted funds, was able to cover the cost of vehicle insurance for the first six months to give our client and her family further peace of mind”.

MFCS relies heavily on local donors, partners, in-kind contributions, fundraising activities, and community support as a key strategy to sustainability.
