Citrus County author Susan Straley has become the first person to announce the formation of a team – the Susan Straley Wellness Trippers — for the Citrus County Virtual Wellness Challenge.

Straley’s books, “Alzheimer’s Trippin’ with George,” and its sequel “The Journey Continues: Alzheimer’s Trippin’ with George,” have become popular favorites among caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. 

Describing the couple’s recumbent bicycle trips, both books are about living and enjoying full lives while dealing with progressive symptoms of dementia.    

About the news, Coping with Dementia President Debbie Selsavage said, “Susan’s forming a team is a perfect example of the benefits of a virtual event during this unusual time of Covid-19.  She is traveling and will not be back in Florida until October, but still she and her team can raise funds for Dementia Education Inc. no matter where they are.” 

Straley has previously contributed to Citrus County organizations that support care partners for individuals living with dementia, and has pledged some of her books to be used to raise funds during the Wellness Challenge.
