Each year the Homosassa Civic Club gives out several scholarships to area high school seniors and adults that are continuing their education. The application and criteria can be downloaded from this link:  Beri Hagerty-Phelps Memorial Scholarship

If you live within the Homosassa Elementary School District and are pursuing further education, you are eligible for this scholarship and can reapply every year that you continue.

Lora Sipos is the chairperson of the Beri Hagerty-Phelps Memorial Scholarship committee. Other members are Tim Gatto, Eleanor Macias, Terry Green and Jessica MacRae.

In 2017, five scholarships were given out.

BERI HAGERTY-PHELPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

1)Applicant MUST live within the Homosassa Elementary School District and/or the Homosassa Special Water District.

2)Complete application.

3)Copy of current or most recent school transcripts. (Adult applicants, who have been out of school over five years, do not need transcripts.)

4)Three references from teachers, employers and/or clergy.

5)Personal essay. Write about yourself and your life’s goals; include school, extracurricular, volunteer, and employment activities. (300 words or less)

6)MARCH 31ST is the due date for applications.

The criteria and the deadline of March 31^st are strictly enforced.  That date is rapidly approaching so if you meet the residential requirements and plan to continuing school,  send your application and accompanying information in!
