A relaxed, welcoming coffee shop with great food for breakfast and lunch. Kafe means coffee and Emoona is Hebrew for faith. Joi and Charles White took over the Local Roots Cafe in May, 2015 and have improved the menu, while retaining the wonderful atmosphere.
Fresh ingredients make for delicious soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts. A consistent staff is quick with a smile and will make you a smoothie or a coffee drink in a flash.
The eatery boasts chicken salad made fresh to order and piled high on a bakery crescent. Homemade soups, sandwiches, wraps, melts, fresh salads, quiche, breakfast sandwiches and delectable desserts like peanut butter pie and rich chocolate brownies sweeten the offerings.
Everything is fresh made to order for eat in or take out, and Joi is particularly proud of the authentic Cuban sandwich crafted with real Cuban bread from a bakery in Miami.
Also from Miami are delicious gelatos.
The coffee is great. Lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, Chai tea and rich flavorful smoothies are among the tempting varieties.
Breakfast with bagels, breakfast sandwiches or a vitamin-packed smoothie are a great way to start the day. A drive through window is available for quicker service.
Best of all, Joi and Charles have created the Family Table in Brooksville with the help of members of the Vineyard Church. On Wednesday evenings, they serve as many as 30 meals to those who have fallen on hard times. Joi does the cooking.
They gather at the hall near 375 Broad Street from 5-6 p.m. and serve a meal consisting of entree, vegetables, salad with homemade dressing and a dessert.
“It is my vision that Kafe Emoona will grow to support the family table 100% with the profits,” Joi shares with me.
So enjoy a great breakfast, lunch or beverage at Kafe Emoona. The food is good for your body, the atmosphere is good for your mood and the mission is good for our world.
