The 1885 Train Depot Museum was the first train station in Brooksville. The rooms are filled with exhibits depicting early Florida, Railroad, and Hernando County history. It also houses model trains and railroad memorabilia.

Set atop one of the highest elevations in Central Florida, you can now tour the Chinsegut Hill Manor House, originally built in the 1850s, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and visit the grounds daily.
The Countryman One Room Schoolhouse, is a representation of a One Room School. It is reminiscent of the first school built in the 1850’s by Fredrick Lykes.
The tour takes you back in time to experience an interactive classroom lesson and provide fun for school groups and family outings. The focus is on early cracker life in the state of Florida.
Visitors can see West Indian manatees every day of the year from the park’s underwater observatory in the main spring. The park showcases native Florida wildlife, including manatees, black bears, bobcats, white-tailed deer, American alligators, American crocodiles, and river otters. Manatee programs are offered three times daily. At the Wildlife Encounter programs, snakes and other native animals are featured.
Heritage Museum and Country Store is a great little museum highlighting the history of the town of Floral City, once more populous than Miami, through images, videos, artifacts and volunteers. It is located next to the Community Building and Library on Orange Avenue, one block east of U.S. Hwy. 41. One gallery features permanent exhibitions, including the Avenue of the Oaks, and the other has changing exhibits.

The May-Stringer House Museum is a seven-gable 14 Room, four story “Painted Lady” Victorian Era home built in 1856. The Hernando Historical Museum Association offers guided tours by knowledgeable docents and walk-in tours during business hours. Period furnishings, over 11,000 artifacts, a military collection, a late 1800’s Doctor’s office and a communications room with a 1940’s switchboard are all part of this interesting museum.

The 1912 Citrus County Courthouse and Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Today the historic courthouse serves as a museum, library/archives, exhibit gallery area (with a rotating/traveling exhibit gallery) and second floor courtroom rental space where Elvis Presley made the climactic courtroom scene in the movie Follow That Dream.
