Museum Calls for Local and Historical Cookbooks for Loan

Has your local church, club, or business historically produced a compilation of recipes from local members and residents?

Museum Calls for Local and Historical Cookbooks for Loan

If so, the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum would like to hear from you. Beginning in June, the museum will display an array of cookbooks featuring Old Florida recipes. Any cookbook on loan will highlight the period, contributor, and organization related to its production as part of the display – likely featuring a few of the recipes, as well. The concept behind this display is to educate about how local food trends have changed through the times.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum contains two permanent exhibits housing local history, historical records that date back to the 1800’s, and a rotating exhibit with something new on display every few months. The cookbook exhibit will be a temporary display, and artifacts on loan would be returned after they are taken down in July. Contributors may need to provide context and help with a description.

The Inverness Cultural Heritage Council, a d.b.a. of the Citrus County Historical Society, Inc. (a non-profit organization) always appreciates donations which go toward the cause of retaining history and hosting museum events.

Those who wish to loan or contribute cookbooks should contact the museum before the end of May at (352) 341-6428.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is dedicated to the active collection and presentation of the diverse cultural and natural heritage of Citrus County and adjacent areas.
