Celebrate Art in the Park March 12-13 in Brooksville

By Diane Bedard Posted on February 24, 2022

On March 12 and 13, 2022, the Hernando County Fine Arts Council invites you to join us for the 37th Annual Art in the Park being held in Tom Varn Park, Park, 301 Darby Lane in Brooksville.

Art in the Park is an annual event dedicated to fine art, craftsmanship, and community that creates a unique opportunity and tradition for artists, collectors, and patrons of the arts.

Artists and artisans showcase a wide variety of works and mediums inside of Tom Varn Park — a natural setting surrounded by beautiful oak trees in Brooksville, Florida. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 for parking.

Art in the Park funds Local Arts throughout the Year

The profits from Art in the Park fund a community grant program supporting the arts in our community, including school art programs, art leagues, youth orchestras and the Hernando Symphony Orchestra, dance and music concerts, and recitals that are open to the public.

“This year, we are ecstatic to bring fine artists and artisans from 12 states across the United States, a reimagined Children’s Experience Area, interactive art installations, a juried student art show, food vendors, and live entertainment for two days in Tom Varn Park,” states Allisa Babor, Chair of Art in the Park.

Entertainment has always been an important aspect of Art in the Park. The entertainment stage is a place for local musicians, dancers, orchestras, theatres, and performers of all styles to share their talent with the community.

A Special Emphasis on Children Experiencing the Arts

An entire section of Art in the Park will now be dedicated to the youth. This area will include separate entertainment, vendors, activities, installations, and more. Several organizations have partnered with the Hernando County Fine Arts Council to bring a unique experience to the youth in our community.

Hernando Youth Orchestra’s “Touch an Instrument” tent will be in the Children’s Experience Area. Let your child experience musical instruments at Art In The Park! The HYO will also perform on the main stage on Sunday, March 13 from 1:30 – 2:30 PM!

This year, the Children’s Experience Area will also have its own Entertainment Schedule. We’ll see you at the stage! Stir Up The Gift will be bringing their talents to the expanded Children’s Experience Area to give our youth FREE performances in singing, acting, dance, and a special hip hop routine!
