Chassahowitzka River Keepers September Events
Chassahowitzka River Keepers Organization’s mission is to conserve the natural beauty and ecological health of the Chassahowitzka River.
They have several events throughout the year that include member meetings, river trash clean ups, lyngbya rake clean ups, educational outreach and fundraisers. All events are open to the public. Here is the September event schedule.
Thursday 6th at 6:00pm ~ Committee Meeting
Attend this meeting if you are interested in an active role on our team. We need your help to preserve the Chassahowitzka River, and to help our organization grow! There are several positions open including Education Outreacher, Event Coordinator, Grant Writer. The meeting is at the Community Center / old fire station, 10300 S Riviera Drive, Homosassa FL 34448. Saturday 15th starting at 7:30am ~ Save Our Waters Week CleanUp!
The Chassahowitzka River Keepers with support from Keep Citrus County Beautiful and the Citrus 2020 Save Our Waters Week Committee is conducting a bi-annual cleanup. Show your pride for Chassahowitzka by helping clean up the river and our roads! We are also kicking off our cleanup of “Beer Can Spring” cove.
Volunteers will get a t-shirt and tools and supplies. ( As long as supplies last )

Tuesday 18th at 7:00pm ~ Educational Speaker Meeting
Maxine Connor from Citrus County League of Women’s Voters will be speaking about the possible ecological impact that a proposed natural gas plant may pose to Citrus County and the surrounding Nature Coast followed by an open discussion with local residents and members.
