Chinsegut Conservation Center October programs
October 4th 10:00 AM – Trees, Marvelous Trees:
Florida is home to a diverse variety of native trees. Stop into this informative program to learn what trees are right for your area and what benefit they can provide to homeowners. Take a walk with arborist Ken Morgan through the beautiful environmental area and discuss local trees. This is a free program, no registration required.
Program length 1 hour (or more with hike)
October 18th 10:00 AM Florida Rocks and Fossils:
Geologist Mike Kelley will walk you through underground Florida from soils to sinkholes, rocks and fossils. This is a free program for ages 16+ no need to register. See the unique and fascinating collection of rocks and other items our presenter acquired over decades exploring the world.

October 12 th 9:00 AM – 3-D Archery:
Archers should arrive by 9 AM to join us for this shoot.
October 19th 10:00 AM – Map and Compass:
Program length 2 Hours
October 19th 2:00 PM – Children in the WILD, Spiders:
Children ages 5-9 are invited to join us each month at Chinsegut for a program just for kids. Meet live animals, explore outdoors or create a craft. These guide one-hour programs are free of cost and feature new topics each month. Register online at MyFWC.com or call (352) 754-6722
October 25th 8:00 AM – Beginning Birding:
Volunteers from the Hernando Audubon Society will be at Chinsegut to offer a guided birding hike. Hike a little or a lot, up to you, there is plenty to see from the back porch of the Center or along the trails. Field guides and binoculars may be borrowed from the Center. This is a free program offered monthly through April, no need to register.
October 25th 6:30 PM – Family Harvest Fun Event:
Family fun with games, crafts, night hikes and goodies for the kids. This event is open for families to celebrate the fall with low-cost fun. $2 per person, recommended for ages 3-11.
