Citizen Input Requested on Floral City Sidewalks Project

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on March 19, 2018

The Floral City Sidewalks project is noted on the Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Transportation Alternatives list as an unranked project.  It is unranked as the scope of the project has yet to be determined.  In the past there have been various discussions/opinions regarding the project, as there is the potential to damage or harm the historic canopy oaks along Orange Avenue with construction or modification of the sidewalk.  Alternatively, should portions of the existing sidewalk be removed and re-route the sidewalk along other roadways within the area which will impact bicycle and pedestrian travel routes, homes and businesses.

The MPO is currently in the process of developing a bike and trail master plan and is seeking input from the public to help make Citrus County a more walkable and bikeable community.  The link to the site is where citizens can offer public input and recommendations.
