Citrus County and City of Inverness Proclaims September 26, 2020 Rainer Jakob Day
Since joining Sertoma in 1979, Rainer has served on every committee and in every office, often more than once, including president and chairman of the board of his local clubs and continues as the “go-to” Sertoman in Citrus County when needed for fundraisers and work projects. He has served Sertoma as a Distinguished District Governor, Regional Director, member of the National Board of Directors, Sertoma Foundation District, and National Representative and continues to advise Sertoma Governors, Directors and National Officers when asked.
Rainer, who was not only instrumental in forming of the Inverness Sertoma Club on September 26, 1980, he also was the person behind building Citrus County’s first and only speech and hearing clinic in Lecanto. During the time the clinic was in operation it served as many as 400 client child and infant appointments. Today testing is accomplished with a fully equipped mobile unit. The mobile unit travels to preschools and daycare center throughout the Tampa Region including Citrus County. He was also the founder of the Octoberfest held for over 35 years in Crystal River and the annual “Golf for Kids” golf tournament which has raised over $200,000 for speech and hearing programs in Citrus County.
Along with his wife Sandy, he has dedicated untold hours to the betterment of area residents through his myriad church, scouts, and community service based charitable works. Congratulations Rainer, thank you for your commitment to others.
