Citrus County Closes 3 Recycling Centers

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on March 18, 2017

Due to increased illegal dumping at the three unmanned recycling centers the Board of County Commissioners have directed staff to take the following action, close the three unmanned centers and expand current recycling services provided at the Central Landfill to accommodate increased traffic.  The Citrus County Division of Solid Waste Management announces phase 1 of site closures during the week of March 20, 2017.

The following Recycling Centers will be closing:

  • Withlacoochee Technical College
  • Citrus Springs
  • West Side Convenience Center (SR44, Crystal River)

There is no charge for recyclables brought to the Citrus County Central Landfill located at 230 W Gulf to Lake Highway in Lecanto. Residents are reminded that illegal dumping can result in fines up to $500. The Citrus County Division of Solid Waste regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
