Citrus County Get It’s Own Game of CLUE – Parks and Recreation Edition

By Meaghan Goepferich Posted on September 11, 2020

Remember playing the old board game of Clue with your family? Clue is the ultimate Who Dunnit Murder Mystery, in which players must guess who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room, with what weapon. Now, there’s a game of “Clue in Citrus County”, but this version doesn’t include the usual suspects, weapons, or location.

Citrus County Get It’s Own Game of CLUE – Parks and Recreation Edition

Instead, Citrus County Parks and Recreation staff members are the suspects. The victim this time is the evil Dr. Covid, who is responsible for ruining playtime fun in the parks. Finally, a staff member has snapped. (No, not really! It’s a game!)! Citizens are invited to walk the trails of four different parks to investigate who dunnit, which park they committed the crime in, and which weapon was used. The game will take local detectives around the county. To solve the mystery you will need the clues located in:

1)            Central Ridge Community Park located at 952 Lake Beverly Drive Beverly Hills, FL 34465

2)            Central Ridge District Park located at 6905 North Lecanto Highway Beverly Hills, FL 34465

3)            Holden Community Park located at 4229 South Rainbow Drive Inverness, FL 34452

4)            Homosassa Area Recreation Park located at 4210 South Grand March Avenue Homosassa, FL 34446.

Clues will be placed and visible for two weeks from Friday, September 4, 2020 through Sunday, September 13, 2020. Remember to continue social distancing as you hunt for clues, all of which are accessible from paved park walking trails. Please do not remove the clues and signage.

Participants will need to contact Citrus County Parks and Recreation with their answer to solving the mystery for potential prizes. The first person to answer correctly will win a gift card for a local Mexican restaurant, Los Magueyes, second and third place winners will receive gift cards for local What’s the Scoop ice cream shop.

“Staff learned about this idea from a Parks and Recreation Department who created it in Bluffton, Indiana and shared information with a national circuit of Parks and Recreation professionals,” stated Recreation Program Specialist Andrea Cuccaro. “We’re excited to try it in Citrus County and appreciate the support of Los Magueyes and What’s the Scoop for donating gift cards to entice more people to join in the fun.”
