Citrus County Parks and Recreation Hosts Summer Camp Programs

After several successful virtual camps, Citrus County Parks and Recreation will offer in-person summer camp programs in June and July. The camps will each last 5 days and are open to children ages 11 to 14.

Citrus County Parks and Recreation Hosts Summer Camp Programs

Camp Color Rush, an art camp that includes drawing, painting, crafts, games, and a hula hooping contest, will take place from Monday, June 14, 2021 to Friday, June 18, 2021 and again from Monday, June 28, 2021 to Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Citrus County Canning Center in Lecanto. Scholarships will be available for some campers thanks to a generous grant from Citrus Fine Arts, Inc. Registration cost includes a personal art kit for each child which includes markers, acrylic and watercolor paints, pastels, sketchbook, sketching pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and canvases.

Camp Sport ‘N Splash, a sports camp that includes kickball, soccer, flag football, basketball, tennis, board games, arts and crafts, and a field trip to Bicentennial Park Pool, will take place from Monday, July 12, 2021 to Friday, July 16, 2021 and again from Monday, July 26, 2021 to Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Central Ridge Community Center in Beverly Hills. Registration cost includes a small backpack, water bottle, frisbee, cup, and art projects to keep.

Registration for each event is required and closes on the Thursday prior to the start date of the chosen program. The cost is $50 per child per week. Camp will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm with drop-off beginning at 7:30am and pick-up available until 5:30pm. Campers should bring a packed lunch and beverage. Snacks will be provided in the morning and afternoon.

Social distancing and health guidelines will be followed strictly by camp staff. Masks for campers are optional but highly recommended. Disposable masks will be made available for those who do not bring one. Hand sanitizing dispensers will be made readily available for campers to utilize and hand washing will be highly encouraged.
