Citrus County Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s 2018 was a Rousing Success

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on December 5, 2018

Both the pledges and the bills are in for Citrus County Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s 2018, and the accounting department at the Alzheimer’s Family Organization tells us it was a great fund-raising success!  We had gross donations of $30,101.43 with less than $2,500 in expenses, giving us a net charitable donation of $27,659.27 to the AFO.

This is a 20 percent increase in both revenue and earnings when compared to our 2017 inaugural Walk!  We cannot adequately express our gratitude to the companies and individuals in Citrus County that contributed to this success.  This includes those who contributed in ways other than money. For example, we received more than $11,000 in value from in-kind contributions, which are very important because they help keep our expenses for promotion and administration low. This included NatureCoaster.com.

And speaking of expenses, our expense-to-revenue ratio was only 8 percent, which means that 92 cents of every dollar raised went straight to the AFO and will be used to support caregivers in its eight-county service area, including Citrus County.

Then there was the “Shoe Your Support” competition.  What a lot of fun that was, and what a way to improve Alzheimer’s awareness to every age group.  While it was not a big money maker, it certainly brought a lot of attention to the Walk, which had three-times the number of participants as 2017.

As the primary organizer of Citrus County Walk Aware, we at Coping with Dementia LLC are stoked about the potential of this great charitable fund raiser.

We have already set our date for next year.

See you again in Floral City on October 19, 2019!
