Paula’s Pure Vintage to entertain at Alzheimer’s Walk
For the third year in a row, Paula’s Pure Vintage, led by Paula Bateman, will perform at Citrus Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s in Floral City on October 19, 2019.
Bateman admits that this is a special performance for her group for two reasons. First, the charity event is close to her heart since she also volunteers as a caregiver support group leader for the Alzheimer’s Family Organization, and because one of the members of her band, Earl Mills, is a musician living with vascular dementia. She says, “This is one of the ways we give back to the cause and help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Family Organization.
Participants can enter the Walk the morning of the event, or register early online at alzheimersfamily.org/walkaware/.
How to support Citrus Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s even if you cannot be there
There are two ways to support Citrus Walk Aware
The first is a point-of-sale campaign among selected Inverness and Floral City businesses where you can make a donation and proudly write your name on your purple walking legs. Make a donation of any amount at The Hen House Cafe, Head to Toe by Julie and Jo, or The Diner and they will display your walking legs ribbon as an example to others.
Another way to “walk” is to join Virtual Team Coping where you can make a $20 or larger contribution to be on a virtual team for supports who cannot be present at the Walk.
To join Virtual Team Coping, go to alzheimersfamily.org/walkaware/. Next, click “Join a Team.” A form will appear where you fill in “Virtual Team Coping” as your team, complete the entry form, and pay your $20 entry fee on-line.
Those who want to participate at the actual Walk can enter in Floral City the morning of the event; October 19, 2019. For more information about Citrus Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s, call 352-616-0170.
Floral City Walk to include local food fare

It will be the third year that the local congregation has provided food for the Walk while donating a portion of each sale to the Alzheimer’s Family Organization.
In addition, Ms. Alida’s famous sweet potato pies will be available, though participants are warned not to delay since these favorites always sell out early.
