During the April 18, 2022, Brooksville City Council Meeting, the City Council proclaimed the month of April as Volunteer Appreciation Month.  

City of Brooksville Honors Volunteers

April was formally established nationally as Volunteer Appreciation Month in 1974 and has continued to grow each year.  The month provides the opportunity to recognize and celebrate volunteers for their service and support to their community. Thousands of volunteers in our community generously donate their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of children, adults, the elderly and animals.   

The City Council acknowledges that government by itself cannot solve all our nation’s social problems; and to salute and recognize the giving of one’s self and service to another empowers the giver and the recipient; often local service can make a broad impact both regionally and nationally.  

The City also recognizes that we are living in a moment that calls for hope for our futures, light to see our way forward, and love for one another and that volunteers provide all three.  By helping others, volunteers also help themselves. They learn new skills, expand their professional networks, connect with neighbors, and experience the satisfaction that comes from serving a larger cause.   

Over 100 volunteers provide valuable services to the City and the Brooksville City Council wishes to express its appreciation and offer a salute to them during this month.  To further express appreciation, the City will hold a reception to recognize and honor volunteers of the City of Brooksville on April 26, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville.
