Hernando County Commissioner Jeff Holcomb challenges Fire Chief Scott Hechler

Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) invites the community to attend its Halloween Pizza Cook-Off and Open House on Saturday, October 27, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Station #3 located at 13240 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill.

“I am honored that Chief Hechler would open up the station and allow me to cook for the community,” Commissioner Holcomb explained. “I look forward to a fun event and really good pizza!”

Reigning champion Commissioner Jeff Holcomb, who won the 2015 Lasagna Challenge, will once again join Fire Chief Scott Hechler and fellow firefighters in this family-friendly culinary competition for the coveted title of “Master Firehouse Chef.” Deep dish, thin crust, all the way, or veggie only, their surprise recipes will be judged via secret ballots by the lucky spectators chosen to taste test the pizzas.

“We thank Commissioner Holcomb for showing his support and offering to bring some good-hearted levity to those who face dangers on a daily basis,” Chief Hechler stated.

This Halloween Pizza Cook-Off and Open House provides a fun way to learn more about your local firehouse and meet your first responders. Guests are encouraged to come in Halloween costume to enjoy pizza, other food donated and prepared by the Hernando IAFF Local 3760 members, kid’s activities including the Fire Safety House, candy and more.
