Prosperity Citrus is a local undertaking of the Florida Prosperity Project. The Florida Prosperity Project is a Florida Chamber-led approach to cut childhood poverty in half – a key objective in the Florida Equality of Opportunity Initiative and essential for achieving the Florida 2030 Blueprint goals overall.

Commissioner Davis is the prosperity initiative leader for Prosperity Citrus. In May 2021, she was invited to speak about Citrus County’s progress at the Florida Chamber’s Prosperity & Economic Opportunity Solution Summit.

“Prosperity Citrus has truly been a county-wide team effort since it began this past spring. Leaders from non-profits, the business community, and county government pulled together to make quick progress on developing a plan to connect volunteer coaches with Citrus County residents living in poverty,” said Commissioner Davis.

“These individuals want to succeed but may not know how to put the pieces together. We expect to be helping our first participants within roughly one year. It is that speed – and the immense community spirit that drove it – that impressed the Florida Chamber with Citrus County.”

The Florida Chamber Chair’s Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have played an important role in furthering the future of Florida and helping the Florida Chamber secure Florida’s future.
