“It is my honor to represent Citrus County. I will put my best foot forward and make sure that the state doesn’t forget the needs of our citizens.” says Commissioner Schlabach.

The Agriculture & Rural Affairs (ARA) Committee is a FAC standing committee and the members are tasked to develop and recommend an annual statewide legislative platform for counties based on each of the issue areas under their jurisdiction. The ARA Committee primarily will consider and address issues including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Agriculture
  • Rural Development Programs
  • Rural Infrastructure
  • Rural Housing
  • Fiscally Constrained Counties
  • Food Access

The FAC policy committees will have two formal meetings: one during the Innovation and Policy Conference on September 21-22, 2021 in Palm Beach County, and one during the Legislative Conference in Walton County on November 17-19, 2021.

For more than 85 years, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) has represented the diverse interests of Florida’s counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that government closest to the people governs best. The Florida Association of Counties helps counties effectively serve and represent Floridians by strengthening and preserving county home rule through advocacy, education and collaboration.
