Community Gardener Master Course
Starting a community garden takes more than simple gardening knowledge. Find out how to start and sustain a community garden with the UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County, Community Gardener Master Course. This course will be composed of three 4 hour sessions, taking place over successive Saturdays from 8am to Noon at the Stallings Building (15029 14th Street Dade City, FL 33523). We will cover topics such as how to create a mission statement, discuss waivers/safety, basic gardening, and how to improve soil quality. The tentative class schedule is as follows:
March 17 , 2018: How to Create a Community Garden
March 24, 2018: Vegetable Families, Different Gardening Techniques, Harvesting, and IPM
March 31, 2018: Composting, Garden Maintenance, Seed Saving, and Preparing for the Off Season
Course Fee: $200 (covers all materials)
For groups of 5+ people employed with a 501(c)3, the public school district, or a county government, a $50 dollar discount will be applied to each person. Contact Eden Santiago-Gomez at [email protected] for more information.
