This weekend’s Great American Cooter Festival welcomes all to attend the City of Inverness three-day event. Friday, October 29, 2021, is a downtown street concert featuring Moonflower at 6:00 p.m. and JoJo Jones at 8:00 p.m. organized by the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, October 30, 2021, the festival is in Liberty Park and offers a kid’s zone for families and a day filled with live county music.  Join the festival at 1 p.m. for the opening ceremony and “one of the hottest country bands in Florida” Hayfire. At 3:30 p.m. local solo performer Sophie Noelle will play country hits. At 7:00 p.m. check out the Randall Crawford Band, this popular act has played with Blake Shelton and performed at the House of Blues.

In addition to the live music and kids zone, the festival welcomes vendors and food trucks to include Lynn’s Ice Cream, Chik-fil-a and a new food truck Good Eatz with custom egg rolls. Stop by the Depot Pavilion for turtle races and education on local wildlife.

Sunday concludes the festival with the popular Cooterween Costume Contest. Contestants of all ages and pets are welcomed to start registering at the event 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., and the competition starts at 12:00 p.m. and is hosted by DJ Trae.
