Crystal River Preserve State Park seeking Volunteers
Join the Crystal River team for the 28th Annual Lakes, Rivers and Coastal Cleanup
Raise your hand to volunteer to make a difference for the environment on Saturday September 16th, 2017. The Crystal River Preserve State Park is seeking volunteers to join our team and work with Park staff removing debris along a nine mile stretch of County Road 494 (Ozello trail).
Last year, 93 dedicated volunteers from ages 8 to 80 picked up 750 pounds of garbage in 3 hours. That huge volunteer effort kept thousands of pieces of microplastics, bottles, and illegally dumped materials from entering the pristine waters surrounding the islands and inlets of the Crystal River Preserve State Park.
Volunteers are asked to notify the park of their interest by sending an email to [email protected] or calling (352) 228-6028.
To participate the day of the event, groups or individuals are required to complete Citrus County’s hold harmless agreement prior to the close of business on September 8th, 2017.
We recommend that sunscreen be applied 30 minutes prior to arrival at the event. Also for your comfort and safety please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and bring a hat, water, sunscreen and bug spray. Extension trash grabbers, leather gloves and sun protective clothing aren’t required but helpful to do the job.
