“Dementia and Firearm Safety” is the title of a new booklet recently approved for publication by the Board of Directors of Dementia Education, Inc., a Citrus County-based non-profit corporation.  The book is now available at Amazon and expected to be available locally before October.

The publication is intended to educate and provide safe options for families coping with dementia in homes where firearms are present.  Dementia Education, Inc. President Ed Youngblood explains, “This handbook is not ‘anti-gun.’ It is about understanding dementia and avoiding accidental injury or worse, just as one would with power tools, appliances, and automobiles in a home where dementia is present.”

Founded in 2018, Dementia Education, Inc’s mission is to further public understanding of memory disease in ways that will result in better and more compassionate care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

The new booklet on firearm safety will be its second publication.  Last year it published “A Handbook for Dementia Friendly Congregations,” which is also available at Amazon.com.
