Enchanted Christmas Celebration Comes to Inverness Dec. 8

The City of Inverness announces its holiday tradition, Light Up Inverness, which is an old-fashioned Christmas celebration. The event is set for December 8, 2017, at 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Join us for a magical evening with Christmas music, snowfall, horse carriage rides, train rides and Santa and Mrs. Claus. The City of Inverness welcomes back its popular, old-fashioned, locomotive ride to downtown Inverness.

New this year, the official lighting of the 22-foot tall Christmas tree on the Valerie Plaza is set for 6 p.m., and horse carriage rides will be provided along the Courthouse Square.

The Valerie Theatre will have a free showing of the Miracle on 34th Street, please contact the theater for tickets in advance.

The Old Courthouse Museum & Citrus County Historical Society will offer a free Christmas music event on the 2nd floor starting at 5 p.m. by the Citrus County High School Choir, no tickets required. The museum will also be open until 8 p.m. with free admission to all exhibits.

This marks the 22nd year the “Christmas Trees Around the Old Courthouse” have been placed around the museum. The Citrus County Chamber is sponsoring a horse carriage ride on a first come, first serve basis, at no charge.
