Annual Brooksville Raid Re-enactment

An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until January 21, 2018


Camps open: 9:00am with the Presentation of Colors. This huge event portrays the 1846 raid of federal troops into the interior as the union forces attempted to destroy a confederate salt works. Cannons are fired. Horses are ridden into battle, and meals are eaten in the largest Civil War reenactment in Florida, with over 1500 reenactors and their families. 28 cannons, 60 horses, and over 50 sutlers bring history to life for kids of all ages.

This reenactment is a re-creation of a Civil War battle that happened in Hernando County in July of l864 and is held once daily.

Activities include shopping on Suttler’s Row, Battalion Drills, the Ladies’ Tea, Brooksville Raid Battle Re-enactment, and Sunday at 1:30 is the Grand Review. It is suggested to bring a chair for your comfort.

Onsite “suttlers” offer a myriad of Civil War items for sale. There is kettle corn, old time root beer and authentic FRY BREAD available for purchase. All animals must be on a leash.

The cost is $10 for adults, $5 ages 6-12, Free for ages 5 and under and $3 for Scouts in uniform.
