Floral City Heritage Days
December 6, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
One event on December 7, 2019 at 10:00 am
Re-live days gone by at this annual event with historic tours, authentic folk vendors, entertainment, and delicious food throughout an historic town in Florida’s beautiful Nature Coast. Friday, December 6, you can join in Candles & Carols, an old-time Florida family gathering complete with music, carols, decorated historic homes, and horse-drawn carriage rides down beautiful Orange Avenue in Floral City, Florida.
Since 1993 the Floral City Heritage Council has sponsored and managed the annual Floral City Heritage Days. This educational event is held the first weekend in December, beginning Friday evening. Floral City Heritage Council volunteers dress in period costume of the 1890s and act as guides to the historic home tours and the museum/country store.
The Friday night event, Candles & Carols, features an ‘all-you-can-eat’ Fish Fry with night rides in horse-drawn wagons down the mile-long Orange Avenue lined with luminarias. Attendees enjoy singing carols from the open front porches of historic homes under the venerable century-old oak trees.
The Saturday events focus around Florida Folk Life Day with early Florida daily living exhibits, demonstrations, and The Blue Banner Tour of Historic Homes.
The day of festivities and education will include the Model ‘A’ Club’s Antique Autos, the Friends of Library Heritage Book Sale, children’s activities in the Floral City Library, Folk Music and stories.
Country Food will be served, including Roasted Pig-On-A-Spit, Olde Tyme BBQ Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Boiled Peanuts, Bottled Soda Pop, Homemade Lemonade, Funnel Cakes, Kettle Corn and more!
