Floral City Strawberry Festival 2019

March 2 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 8:00 am, repeating until March 3, 2019

The Floral City Strawberry Festival is a salute to local agriculture. Ferris Farms, our local grower, supplies hundreds of flats of strawberries that are made into fresh strawberry shortcakes, and are also sold fresh to festival-goers to bring home to make their own strawberry delicacies.

The festival will open Saturday morning with the posting of the colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, and Lecanto High School counselor Beth Evans singing the national anthem, followed by the Little Miss Strawberry Princess and Miss Strawberry Princess pageants under the direction of Mrs. April Royal.

Fresh strawberries from local grower Ferris Groves will be available for purchase! Fresh-picked full and half flats will be located at the strawberry flats tent next to the shortcake tent. For ease in carrying them to your car, flats will also be available at each gate as well as the shuttle bus parking lot at the County Auditorium.

Musical Talent includes Emi Sunshine

The Floral City Strawberry Festival is honored to introduce a new talent to our festival audiences! Emi Sunshine is making her Citrus County public debut at the festival on Saturday afternoon.  This young lady – only 14 years old – hails from East Tennessee and has captured the nation’s attention and enchanted their hearts with her musical wizardry.  Steeped in Appalachian music, Emi is a true vocal stylist. Influenced by legends (Loretta Lynn/Tanya Tucker/ The Louvin Brothers), she is a throwback to earlier eras of country music when trendsetters like Bessie Smith, June Carter, Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams made history. A spectacular 2014 performance at a Tennessee flea market skyrocketed her career to become a worldwide phenomenon when a video of her stage show went viral on YouTube. Since her breakout at just nine years old, Emi has garnered more than 14 Million YouTube views and a half million Facebook followers.  Be sure to catch her now at the Floral City Strawberry Festival, because who knows when we will be able to bring this destined-to-be-famous young lady back for an encore?

Strawberry Pie Eating Contests

The extremely popular and extremely messy pie-eating contests return on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be contests for adults, along with special contests for the little ones and maybe even super competitive “rival” contests.

Sign ups to participate in the contests will take place onsite at the festival both mornings, at the Chamber Information Tent next to the Strawberry Shortcake Tent, beginning at 10 a.m. There are 3 categories: Ages 10 and under; ages 11 – 17; and ages 18 and over. There are only 8 spots in each age group, so sign up quick!

Children’s Activities, Crafts and Beer & Wine Garden

Children’s activities play a big role in the Strawberry Festival and will keep the little ones entertained for hours. Look for a petting zoo, an exciting variety of inflatables and bounce houses, the ever-popular aqua tumble bubbles, a climbing rock wall and much more.

Nearly 300 booths filled with craft artists, local non-profits, and commercial vendors will make shopping a pleasure. And let’s not forget about the food! Everything from seafood to BBQ, frozen smoothies and ice creams, craft sodas to homemade pretzels will ensure that you will not go home hungry. Enjoy an ice-cold beer or sip wine at the beer garden by the main stage.
