Holiday in the Gardens and Poinsettia Planting

December 1, 2020 - January 9, 2021

The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens will hold their 14th annual Christmastime event, “Holiday in the Gardens” beginning December 1. Clubs, organizations, individuals, and businesses are invited to participate in this community event by decorating a tree.

The “Angels” from Angels on High will be incorporated into the Holiday in the Gardens event again this year.

Because of the CoronaVirus/Pandemic situation, tree decorating will begin on Tuesday, December 1, and all trees must be decorated no later than Saturday, December 5. Allowing five days to decorate eliminates the possibility of too many people in the Gardens at one time.

This year, we again have a “Snowman Village “and “Tree of Youth” as free events exclusively for children under 12. Children are encouraged to make their own snowman approximately 3 feet tall out of any material that would withstand the rain and watering as it will be displayed outdoors in the Gardens until early January. In addition, the staff at the Gardens have selected a special tree to be decorated only by children and designated “Tree of Youth”. Please provide your child with weatherproof decorations for this unique tree that will be decorated by our community’s young people.

We are asking for a $25 donation to reserve a tree for decorating. Please note, if you want a specific tree reserved, we will reserve it upon the receipt of $25. Due to demand, contact us soon for your reservations by calling (352) 600-7707 or email your questions to [email protected]. This annual event starts on December 1st and lasts until early January, when you un-decorate your tree.

The poinsettia planting at the Waterfall Entrance to Spring Hill is canceled. However, please bring memorial poinsettias to the Poinsettia Garden located in the back of the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, December 5 – 12. Please sign a memorial plant stake in memory of your loved one and hang the stake on the Poinsettia Tree located there. Please practice social distancing where possible and wear a mask if necessary.
