Madonna and Ernest Wise: History & How to Press Flowers

January 18 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

The Dade City Garden Club will host a virtual general membership meeting on Monday, January 18 at 9:30 am via Zoom. The program will feature a presentation by Madonna Wise, author of “A Haunted History of Pasco County”.  Madonna is a member of the Dade City Garden Club and currently serves as its Historian.

Having been enthralled by stories and tales from family and neighbors since her childhood, Madonna has taken what she’d heard over the years and published books that incorporate history and the culture of the areas she’s writing about. In “A Haunted History of Pasco County”, she tells the story of the area which now encompasses Pasco County with a range of stories that encapsulate the rugged and isolated Florida Frontier in which superstition and moon phases influence planting and harvesting.

As a bonus, her husband Ernest “Ernie” Wise will do a short program on pressing flowers, a useful and creative skill to learn. Ernie is a botanist whose herbarium specimens are stored in several Herbariums throughout the USA. Ernie also pressed Madonna’s wedding bouquet 46 years ago and it is still in pristine condition!
Non-members are welcome to attend. Registration is through email [email protected] by January 17.
