San Antonio Rattlesnake Festival
October 19 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
One event on October 20, 2019 at 10:00 am
The Rattlesnake Festival is an educational family event featuring rattlesnake and other wildlife shows, an arts and crafts village, music, bounce houses and other children’s activities, fair rides, a pumpkin patch, local talent, a food court, and more.
Proceeds benefit The Thomas Promise Foundation, which provides weekend lunches to food-insecure students in Pasco County.
The San Antonio Rattlesnake Festival began in 1967 as a small Jaycee project in San Antonio, Florida. In 1973, arts and crafts were added as an important part of the event. The Rattlesnake and Gopher Enthusiasts (R.A.G.E., Inc.) managed and grew the event successfully until 2012. From 2012 – 2016, the festival was managed by Rotary Clubs as a fundraiser for local charities and in 2017 the Thomas Promise Foundation stepped in to continue this great community festival.
The festival is held at the Pasco County Fairgrounds to allow for ease of parking and festival growth, but the traditional activities will remain central to the event, such as the snake shows and the tortoise races.
There will be a Rattlesnake Run on Saturday from 8 am to noon. The 5-mile trek includes hills, sidewalks, roads, a bridge, cross country, and more hills – all in Pasco County’s fresh country air. Started in 1978 in quaint San Antonio, Florida the Rattlesnake Run is among Tampa Bay Area’s oldest events. There is also a 1-mile Rattlesnake Fun Run that starts at 9:15 am. Pets and children are welcome to join in the fun.
Family Fun & Entertainment at The 53rd Annual Rattlesnake Festival
Food, arts & crafts, live music, wildlife, children’s games, and local history are highlighted each year.
Family fun and entertainment are the main focus of the event.
Don’t miss The Bellamy Brothers in Concert October 18.
