Short Takes: A Grab Bag of Old Florida Stories

January 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Dr. Caren Neile is a storyteller who will perform Short Takes: A Grab Bag of Old Florida Stories, based on her book Florida Lore. From the Ghost of Bellamy Bridge to the Ashley Gang, Florida history is brimming with fascinating characters and memorable events. Enjoy lively interpretations of some of the better-known Florida tales of lovers, criminals, and celebrities, as well as others you might not have encountered.

Dr. Neile teaches storytelling studies at Florida Atlantic University and has performed around the world. She is an author of numerous books and academic journals and co-hosts The Public Storyteller public radio segment. Come see this distinguished performer on Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m. or join us from the comfort of your home online!

The program will be a hybrid event with limited in-person seating the night of the event and a livestream and recording for viewers at home through our Youtube Channel. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. We ask that all visitors to the museum wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Our 2021 Coffee and Conversations speaker series is funded by the Florida Humanities. The Florida Humanities is an amazing organization that supports efforts throughout the state to bring artistic, cultural, and historical programming to local communities. Funding for Florida Humanities comes from the National Endowment for the Humanities and private donations.
