Soil Amending Volunteer Event

October 20, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Fall is finally here and the weather is cooling down. Join us at the Dade City Watson Park Community Garden as we amend the soil in our garden with treated cow manure, donated by Black Kow. We amend our soil in the garden as preparation for our Fall Plant Out next week.

Come learn as you work about the importance of amending our sandy Florida soil with organic matter like compost, manures, and mulches. All volunteers that register and volunteer will receive a free Florida Vegetable Gardening Guide, written by the University of Florida.

We will be shoveling and wheel-barreling the compost/manure mix donated, and if you have any disabilities please contact me, Eden. Tell me how we can accommodate you as I would love to have you come. One raised wheelchair and senior accessible bed is still available to lease, as well as numerous in-ground beds at this community garden; all for free.

Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and closed toed shoes. (If you have a shovel or wheelbarrow, feel free to bring that too!) This is a family friendly event, but please leave your four legged members at home.

For more information, contact Eden Santiago Gomez at [email protected] or (352)518-0156.
