Hernando Audubon Virtual Meeting: Thursday, February 25, 7 p.m.: Renowned naturalist and nature photographer Reinier Munguía will present an Introduction to Neotropical Birds. He will describe the diversity of birds occupying every niche of the neotropics, from lowland rain forest to cloud forest and high-altitude deserts. Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to Hernando County Landfill, February 5: Masks required. Participants limited. For reservations and trip details: [email protected] or 727-286-1981 We will see recycling in action and then watch the eagles, gulls, vultures, and other birds attracted to the landfill.

Hernando Audubon work day at Florida Audubon’s Ahhochee Hill Sanctuary: Saturday, February 6, 9 a.m. at 24268 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville (Hernando County). Masks required. Participants limited. Hernando Audubon Big Day/Birdathon, Saturday, February 13 Everyone can participate by trying to find as many species as they can during the day, whether it is in your own yard or your favorite park. At the end of the day, submit your list of species to [email protected] This is a fundraiser for Hernando Audubon Society, with proceeds going to help fund local conservation and education programs and our Junior Audubon Club. Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to J.B. Starkey Wilderness Park (Pasco County), Saturday, February 20 at 10500 Wilderness Park Blvd., New Port Richey. Meet at 8 a.m. in the corral parking area. Meet at 8 a.m. at Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville. Learn to identify birds at feeders and during a short walk. There will be binoculars available for use.
