Historic Trees during Storm Season

Along the Historic Avenue of Oaks, please contact Frank Peters ([email protected] or [email protected]) if you have any damage to historic trees that you need to be addressed. Frank has contacts with the certified arborists who help care for those trees. The Citrus County Road Maintenance department take care of all other trees that fall in the roadways. We don’t have to worry about the 3 dead trees reported on the recent Tree Survey, though. According to Jim Sterling, Director of Citrus County Road Maintenance, PAFF Tree Service will be removing the dead trees on June 19, 2019.  Please be aware this will affect traffic on Orange Avenue.

Floral City Heritage Museum News

The Museum is jumping this summer season! Summer Sessions for students in grades 1-5 will be held June 24-28 at the Floral City Heritage Museum (9:30-noon). Galactic Globetrotters will be exploring topics such as Pre-historical people, Floral City History, and Communities of the Future.

Floral City Heritage Museum is partnering with the Floral City Library to provide the program for children. Register students through the Library.

Meanwhile, Museum Volunteer Phyllis Peters forwarded a special request from Lisa Zantner (352-425-4410), a neighbor who is looking for a place in the area to pasture 3 retired racehorses. Please call her if you can help with that.

If you’re de-cluttering your life, The Museum is planning a community yard sale when the weather cools a little. Start collecting those things you’ve been looking to get rid of!

Citrus County Historical Society and Community Events

A new exhibit titled 125 years of the Citrus County Chronicle will open this Thursday evening at the Old Courthouse Museum with a party featuring special guests and refreshments 6-7:30 pm. It promises to be THE place to be seen in Citrus this week–and it’s free! See all the scheduled events at this link: https://citruscountyhistoricalsociety.org/events-calendar.php.

The Neighborhood Snapshots Photography Classes look like fun!
