By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on September 19, 2016

October 28- 30 are the dates for the 2016 Florida Agriculture and Wildlife Expo.  The Expo is pleased to announce that this year they will be located on Runway Drive at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport.

In its mission to inform and enhance all that Hernando County and Florida have to offer in areas of agriculture and wildlife, the Expo will include a daily Farmer’s Market for fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce as well as urban farming tips, education and products.

Other big events include a Youth Prospect Steer show so that area youth can venture into the arena with their latest project for experience and feedback; a Youth Horse Show, demonstrations by the Southeastern Mounted Shooting Association (on horseback!), and a Country-Western dance with line dance demonstrations.

There will also be daily entertainment and music, educational and informational exhibits and booths as well as arts and crafts, art work, and other interesting items for purchase.  In addition to the BBQ cook-off, there will be a variety of delicious foods and beer and wine available for purchase.

There will be daily fun for the children too with hay rides and pony rides and pumpkin painting, bounce house festivities and more.  On Sunday there will be a children’s costume contest so they can show off their Halloween costumes to all.  There will also be competitive exhibits such as hay bale decorating, a scarecrow decorating contest, quilting, horticulture, and trash can decorating – for students and adults and for all to enjoy.

The Florida Agriculture and Wildlife Expo, Inc. came to fruition May 15, 2015.  It was founded by a group of Hernando County residents with interests in agriculture, livestock, horses, hunting, fishing, wildlife and educating old and young on those aspects of Florida.

Its goal is to showcase the area’s finest arts, talent and industries as well as preserve and enhance the rich heritage of our agriculture and wildlife communities through a first class showcase of family oriented programs that are innovative, interactive and entertaining for all ages!

Be sure to put this on your calendar and go to the Expos Facebook page – FAWEXPO, or their website – fawexpo.org or email them for more information at fawexpo@gmail.com.
