Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ December Class/Workshop Schedule

The Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program offers classes and workshops year-round to help residents learn how to save time, money and water when maintaining their lawns and gardens. All classes will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program Coordinator Lilly Browning. The schedule of classes and workshops along with a short description of each is listed below.

Free Class: Winter Container Gardening for Ornamentals

Residents are invited to attend “Winter Container Gardening for Ornamentals” on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Hernando Library located at 6335 Blackbird Avenue in Brooksville. Be the most colorful yard on the block! Learn which annuals and perennials to grow during our cool season and how containers can bring a splash of interest and fun. No registration necessary.

Free Class: Florida, Bugs and You

Residents are invited to attend “Florida, Bugs and You” on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Chinsegut Conservation Center located at 23212 Lake Lindsey Road in Brooksville. The saying “The only good bug, is a dead bug” is simply not true. Learn how beneficial insects work for us and how we can control the pest insects responsibly. No registration necessary.

Free Class: When Bad Landscapes Happen to Good People

Residents are invited to attend “When Bad Landscapes Happen to Good People” on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Hill Branch Library located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive. It can be tough taking care of a yard in Florida. Discover the most common mistakes and how we can learn from them to create a beautiful and sustainable landscape. No registration necessary.

Free Class: Saving Water and Money in the Landscape

Residents are invited to attend “Saving Water and Money in the Landscape” on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hernando County Utilities Building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville. You can have a beautiful landscape without breaking the bank. Learn tips on how to use less natural and financial resources. No registration necessary.
