Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ September Class/Workshop Schedule

The Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) program offers classes and workshops year-round to help residents learn how to save time, money and water when maintaining their lawns and gardens. The schedule of classes and workshops along with a short description of each is listed below.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ September Class/Workshop Schedule

Free Class: Simple Steps to a Florida-Friendly Yard

Residents are invited to attend “Simple Steps to a Florida-Friendly Yard” on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Hernando Library located at 6335 Blackbird Avenue in Brooksville. Trying to have a nice yard can be overwhelming. This class will help you take a few simple steps that will make a big impact in your landscape. This class will be presented by FFL Coordinator Lilly Browning. No registration necessary.

Free Class: Fall Blooming Natives

Residents and their children are invited to attend “Fall Blooming Natives” on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Chinsegut Conservation Center located at 23212 Lake Lindsey Road in Brooksville. Volunteer Master Gardener Rita Grant will discuss the awesome varieties of native plants that bring autumn to life in Central Florida. Learn how to incorporate more natives into your landscape, which will reduce your workload and increase your wildlife population. No registration necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel Workshop on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hernando County Utilities Building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville. This workshop will be presented by FFL Program Coordinator Lilly Browning. Rain barrels are $50 each. Attendance is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel; however, you may attend without purchasing one. Please make checks payable to HCUD and mail to Hernando County Utilities, 15365 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop September 25” on the envelope. Checks will be the only form of payment accepted and must be received by September 24, 2019. Hernando County Utilities customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive a one-time $25 credit on their water bill. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55-gallon barrel. All sales final. Call (352) 540-6230 for more information.
