Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, a local provider of the Dignity Memorial® network in Spring Hill, Florida, will participate in the national Wreaths Across America™ Day. This is the third year that Florida Hills Memorial Gardens will participate in this national event.
The Florida Hills Memorial Gardens ceremony includes:
- Volunteers will place remembrance wreaths on the headstones of more than 460 veterans laid to rest in the cemetery.
- As the wreath is placed, each veteran’s name will be read aloud as a way to ensure the individuals who served in the United States armed forces are not forgotten.
- The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office will present the colors.
- The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 10209 will play taps.
Wreaths Across America™ is a national nonprofit that performs an annual wreath-laying ceremony every December at Arlington National Cemetery and coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.
The St. Frances Cabrini Assembly 3022 of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209 raised money for the wreaths that will be laid at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens. Volunteers from those organizations, as well as the general public and Florida Hills Memorial Gardens employees will lay the wreaths.
The public is invited to attend at 14354 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
