The Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD) Water Awareness Series will begin its new season starting October 12, 2018. This series offers free monthly classes to educate participants on how to protect Florida’s water resources. This season kicks off with the “Fertilizer Use in the Home Lawn, Take Care – Don’t Share” class on October 12, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon at the HCUD Building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville.

In this class, Extension Services Horticulture Agent Dr. William Lester will present responsible methods to apply fertilizer to your home lawn efficiently and responsibly. Participants will learn best management practices to minimize the amount of fertilizer lost due to runoff, keeping our local waterways safe from nitrates and other pollutants.
