Head Start/Early Head Start Programs Now Accepting Applications
Mid Florida Community Services, Inc’s., Head Start and Early Head Start Programs are accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. Mid Florida Community Services, Inc’s. (MFCS), Head Start/Early Head Start Programs serve children and families in Hernando, Sumter, and Volusia Counties.

These programs, through comprehensive early childhood services, enhance the lives of children and families to collaboratively foster school readiness and self-sufficiency for children ranging from six weeks to five years of age. Head Start/Early Head Start Programs are open to families meeting the Federal poverty guidelines; and, families whose children have a disability, regardless of income. Services are provided to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.
Families interested in applying for either of these programs can do so online at https://www.midfloridaheadstart.com/. Head Start, serving children ages three to five years of age, is provided in Hernando, Sumter, and Volusia Counties. Head Start hours are from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Early Head Start, serving children ages 6 weeks to three years, is provided in Hernando and Volusia Counties. Since 1965, the Nationwide Head Start program has helped over 30 million children; annually servicing over one million children in the United States. The programs are based in centers and schools in and around Hernando, Sumter, and Volusia Counties, federally-funded to promote the social, physical, and cognitive development of the children served.
