Hepatitis A Outbreak

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on October 2, 2019

The growing hepatitis A outbreak is a major concern here in the Nature Coast. The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County is averaging around six new cases each week. To date, 66 cases have been reported in Citrus, a 25% increase from the number of cases reported just two weeks ago.

Local health departments continue to combat this outbreak by proving thousands of no-cost vaccines to individuals at risk; however, everyone plays a crucial role in stopping the spread of this highly contagious infection.

To protect residents and visitors, the department of health advises all public and private entities with restrooms to sanitize these facilities at least once a day by following the attached disinfection guidelines. We also ask you to print and display the attached flyer in your facilities to encourage proper handwashing.
