Hernando Audubon Virtual Meeting: Thursday, March 25, 7 p.m.: Diversity in Florida Native Bees.

Dr. William Lester will discuss some of the over 300 species of native bees found in Florida. Many are solitary and live underground, but they still perform as many (or more) important environmental duties as honeybees. Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve, Saturday March 6: Masks required. Participants limited.

Make reservations with Lucille: [email protected] or 352-540-9746. Meet at 8 a.m. in the first parking lot beyond the entrance to the preserve at 1001 Old Rock Road in Yankeetown. We will look for birds at a salt pond, tidal marshes, and an oak hammock.

Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to Honeymoon Island, Tuesday, March 9: Masks required. Participants limited.

Make reservations with Bev: 352-686-0460 or [email protected] Meet at 7:15 on the causeway, at the first pull-off on the south side of     Curlew Road (SR-586). We expect to see a variety of waders, gulls, terns, and shorebirds. Park fee: $4 for lone driver or $8 for 2-8 people.

Hernando Audubon Birding and Biking on the Withlacoochee Trail, Saturday, March 20: Masks required. Participants limited.

We will bike about 6 miles north before returning. This beautiful section passes through forests and fields, where we will stop periodically to look for birds.

Hernando Audubon Beginning Birding, Friday, March 26: Masks required. Participants limited. Make reservations with Linda: text 352-428-2629 or email [email protected]. Meet at 8 a.m. at Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville. Learn to identify birds at feeders and during a short walk. There will be binoculars available for use.
