Learn to identify birds at feeders and during a short walk. There will be binoculars and bird guides available for use. For information, contact Linda, 352-428-2629, lindalark85@gmail.com.

Thursday, October 25: At the Hernando Audubon meeting, Ken Meyer will discuss “Living and Flying in the (mostly) Lower Troposphere: Let’s Talk About the Weather.” He will focus on migrating birds such as the Swallow-tailed Kite, which spends the summer in Florida and the winter in South America. He is Executive Director of Avian Research and Conservation Institute. The meeting will begin at 7 PM at the Community Activity Center, 205 E. Ft. Dade Ave. in Brooksville.

Saturday, October 27: Hernando Audubon nature walk to Cypress Lakes Preserve. Meet at 8 AM at the park entrance, 33597 Ridge Manor Blvd. (at Olancha Road) in Ridge Manor, Hernando County. Jim King, retired land manager for Hernando County’s Environmentally Sensitive Lands, will lead a walk at this seldom visited county park. He will speak briefly to introduce us to this 331-acre property. Then he will guide us about 1.5 miles on the Florida National Scenic Trail as we look for birds and wildflowers.
